Holiday Gift Drive Coming Soon!

The LCCS Holiday Gift Drive is about to get underway, with an official start date of November 5 for the WTOL-TV “Gift of Joy” donation campaign. The drive ensures that children whose families are involved with LCCS receive the same kinds of holiday gifts – “Gifts of Joy” – as their peers. This effort is successful thanks to the community’s support.

Please consider donating a toy or making a financial contribution at one of these upcoming events:

  • Franklin Park Mall’s Angel Tree program runs from November 13 through December 20. Select a tag from the Angel Tree, go shopping, and fulfill a child’s holiday wishes.

  • The iHeartMedia Toy-a-Thon and Hensville Tree Lighting take place on Saturday, November 21, from 3 to 7 pm. There will be music, giveaways, and family fun before the Toledo Walleye hit the ice at 7:15 pm. It’s also an opportunity to donate a new, unwrapped toy to children being served by LCCS.

  • The annual Community Bike Build takes place at the Jerusalem Twp. Fire Department, 9501 Jerusalem Rd, Curtice, on Sunday, November 29. Volunteer builders are welcome; register by calling 419-213-3634.

  • The Barnes & Noble store on Monroe Street is once again joining LCCS by encouraging its customers to buy books to donate to LCCS. We’re looking for everything from board books for babies, to Captain Underpants for young readers, to Harry Potter or science fiction.

  • The WTOL-TV 11 “Gift of Joy” drive-through toy donation event will be Thursday, December 3 in the WTOL parking lot at Summit and Walnut. Pull up, pop your trunk and volunteers will unload your donations. Don’t tell anyone, but Santa is known to hang around and take notes.
  • The Toledo Walleye host the annual “Teddy Bear Toss” on Saturday, December 5. The Fish play the Fort Wayne Komets at 7:15 pm. Bring a new stuffed animal to throw on the ice when the Walleye score their first goal.

  • The annual “Shred for a Toy” event is Saturday, December 5 from 10 am until 2 pm at the Burger King on Monroe St. across from Franklin Park Mall. Donate a new, unwrapped toy and get 5 bags or boxes of personal documents shredded for free.
