Parenting workshop for low-income families in South Toledo. Sets the foundation for for for building and sustaining supportive relationships and offers one-on-one home visits via Parent Advocates. Uses Nurturing Parenting Curriculum. Transportation is provided.

Target Population: Parents of children ages 0-6, However, if there are other children in the home older, FCAPC will still be able to work with the family.

This is a free 12-week open parenting class with observations offered. The caveat to the observations is that your client will have to have a Diagnostic Assessment (DA) from FCAPC. If your client does not need observations (possibly a non-offending parent) they can attend without having to have a DA. The classes are individual and are not offered in a group setting.

  • CHILDREN 0-3: Parenting class for parents of young children. Classes cover educational information related to child development, safety, discipline, etc.
  • CHILDREN 3-18: Parenting class for caregivers of children 3-18 that teaches a variety of positive parenting skills.

Target Population: Parents of children ages 3-8

  • In order for a client to be referred to this parenting program, they must have a diagnostic assessment/evaluation unless one has been completed by another agency within the past 6 months. Clients are seen in their home as scheduled with a clinician providing the service. There will be four (4) parent-child observations completed.
    • Cost: Insurance/Medicaid
    • Timeframe: 16 Weeks

Target Population: Parents of children 0-6

  • PLEASE NOTE: NP will accept a referral for a parent who has children older than 6, however, they have to have a child 0-6 in the home per the grant.
  • Nurturing Parenting Group: An evidence-based program that is family-centered and trauma informed. The program is designed to build nurturing parenting skills as a alternative to abusive and neglectful parenting and child-rearing practices. The program is skill focused, competency-based programs designed to correspond to the developmental age level of children: pre-natal; birth to five years; school age; adolescence and adult and teen parents. There will be four(4) parent-child observations completed.
    • Cost: Grant funded, no cost

COHFS provides evidence-based family education, parenting groups, mentoring and mental wellness services and a unique Cooking Up Hope program for parents and children. Read about our family education programs below. “Nurturing Parents,” a 12-week program that allows parents to connect and support one another. The program is free of charge, with meals provided.
