(1:00pm to 9:00pm, Monday - Friday) Quality Assurance Division
ACCOUNTABILITIES: To assess, document, track, and ensure medical and dental care of children in the care of LCCS, consistent with agency and governmental requirements, medical best practice, utilizing medical case management.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Performs and documents placement medical screenings, including provision of screenings while on-call, in order to prevent possible transmission of common childhood communicable diseases and identifies any symptoms of illness, injury, or maltreatment. Makes medical follow-up recommendations based on placement medical screen and other available medical related information.
Reviews all medical exams/reports/records received, identifies missing information and provides follow-up on any identified problems and issues. Obtains medical/social history and maintains communication with LCCS staff, caregivers, community agencies, physicians and hospitals to provide and acquire health related information. Completes and updates medical Health Passports on computer and requests additional medical information as needed. Develops a nursing plan of care for medically fragile children as a tool in ensuring medical well being. Monitors and documents PE, dental exams and immunizations according to ODJFS mandates and agency requirements. Facilitates initial authorization and monitors follow-up for children on psychotropic medication. Assures that surgery second opinions are completed through consultation with LCCS medical consultants, physicians, caseworkers, caregivers and agency Executive Director. Maintains frequent contact with the significant adults and medical professionals involved in ensuring medical well being of children with special/exceptional needs, including home visits. Maintains documentation of nursing activities and monitors/logs abuse exams and second opinions of LCCS medical consultant. Records abuse information on database.
Provides education, in-service training, and guidance to LCCS staff, caregivers, parents, children and other persons as identified regarding pediatric/adolescent health issues, including participating in ad reviews, family conferences, internal/external meetings and committees.
Provides court testimony as needed, and assists with the preparation of medical information for the Legal Department. Performs other related duties as assigned (may be non-essential duties.)
SCOPE OF POSITION: Ability to achieve position goals by utilizing knowledge of nursing and medical procedures, assessments, CPR and First Aid. Important to maintain harmonious relationships and communication with clients, staff, caretakers, community representatives, and other professionals.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Valid Ohio R.N. license. Experience in Pediatrics preferred. Knowledge of ambulatory health care helpful. Experience performing health histories, developmental & mental health screens, physical assessments & communicable disease screens or ability to learn. Ability to receive certification and teach CPR and First Aid. Physical exam will be required once a job offer is made. Must be available for evening, weekend, and holiday on-call duties. May be required to work other shifts for vacation and leave coverage. Ability to work effectively in a multi-cultural work environment required. Must possess the ability to utilize computer technology to access information and produce reports.
Starting Pay: $25.83 per hour
