Be a Part of Their Story is a call to ordinary people to do something extraordinary. Every child has a story. Some children’s stories begin with trauma, loss, or uncertainty, but that does not have to be where their story ends. As a foster parent, you can become the safe chapter in a child’s life where healing begins. You don’t have to be perfect. You just have to be willing to provide: a safe place to be, a caring adult who shows up, stability during a difficult season, hope for a child, and support for a family.

Foster parenting is not about replacing a child’s family; it’s about helping children stay connected, supporting reunification when possible, and standing in the gap when families need help. When you foster, you become part of a bigger story, one of healing, resilience, and hope.

Be a part of their story
Because every child deserves a story filled with safety, stability, love, and hope. Fostering strengthens families and communities. There is a real need in Lucas County for caring adults willing to open their hearts and homes.

Respite Foster Care
This provides a much-needed break for current foster parents, offering support so they can rest, recharge, and continue caring for children in their homes. You may provide care for a weekend, a few days, or during emergencies, but your impact can be lasting. Sometimes being part of a child’s story means supporting the family caring for them.

Treatment Foster Care
Children with behavioral, emotional, medical, or developmental needs often need more than care; they need understanding, patience, advocacy, and healing. These children often thrive in nurturing family settings where they can build trust, stability, and connection. Our treatment foster parents receive specialized training and support to help them be a part of the story.

Faith-Based Community
This is an invitation for the faith community to live out its calling. Not everyone is called to foster, but everyone can care. Some can open their homes. Some can provide respite. Some can mentor, pray, give, babysit, provide meals, or support foster families. Your congregation can be part of a child’s story.

Foster Parents Needed in Lucas County
You Can Make a Difference.

Foster parents can make a difference, one child, one family, one story at a time. Foster parents don’t just provide a place to stay—they help change the direction of a child’s life in meaningful, lasting ways.

  • They provide safety and stability. In moments of crisis, foster parents give children a safe, steady environment where they can begin to feel secure again.
  • They help children heal. Many children come into care carrying trauma, fear, or loss. Foster parents offer patience, consistency, and care that help children rebuild trust.
  • They show what healthy relationships look like. Through everyday interactions—listening, encouraging, setting boundaries—foster parents model love, respect, and stability.
  • They support families, not replace them. Foster parents play a critical role in helping children stay connected to their biological families and supporting reunification when possible.
  • They advocate for children. Whether it’s school, medical care, or services, foster parents speak up to ensure children get what they need to thrive.
